Informatica Administrator Overview
- Role summary: Responsible for installing, configuring, securing, and operating Informatica platform components across environments.
- User and role management: Create and manage users, assign system and custom roles, and enforce least‑privilege access.
- Environment provisioning: Deploy and configure PowerCenter/Cloud/IDQ/MDM runtime environments and Secure Agents.
- Connection and resource configuration: Manage connections, integration services, repositories, and runtime resources for optimal throughput.
- Monitoring and alerting: Implement end‑to‑end monitoring of workflows, jobs, and agents; configure alerts and SLAs.
- Performance tuning: Tune mappings, sessions, pushdown optimization, partitioning, and memory settings to reduce latency.
- High availability and DR: Design clustering, failover, and disaster recovery strategies for repository and runtime services.
- Security and compliance: Enforce encryption, key management, audit logging, and data masking to meet governance requirements.
- Patch and upgrade management: Plan and execute upgrades, apply hotfixes, and validate compatibility across connectors and agents.
- Integration and connectors: Install and manage add‑on connectors, SDKs, and third‑party integrations for cloud and on‑prem systems.
- Automation and CI CD: Build automated deployment pipelines, configuration as code, and regression tests for ETL artifacts.
- Backup and repository management: Maintain repository backups, version control, and recovery procedures for metadata and mappings.
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis: Diagnose job failures, logs, and environment issues; mentor teams on best practices.
- Capacity planning and cost control: Forecast resource needs, optimize licensing, and balance performance versus operational cost.
- Data quality and MDM support: Collaborate with DQ and MDM teams to deploy Informatica Data Quality and Multi‑Domain MDM solutions.
- Advanced analytics and GDS: Leverage Graph Data Science and metadata analytics to surface lineage, impact analysis, and optimization opportunities.
- Documentation and governance: Maintain runbooks, SOPs, audit trails, and stakeholder communication for production readiness.
